Childers Auto and Truck Parts Joins Power Heavy Duty as It Focuses on Growth

If past performance is an indicator of future results, expect big things from Childers Auto and Truck Parts, a Pikeville, Ky.-based distributor, service provider and new Power Heavy Duty member.

While the company was founded less than a year ago, they are a subsidiary of Ken’s Towing & Service, which has been helping those in, around and passing through Pikeville get out of tight jams and back on the road for more than 25 years. They’ve rescued vehicles – including many heavy-duty trucks – stuck in snow drifts, flipped into creeks and dangling dangerously close to a steep descent down an Appalachian mountainside.

This customer-first, solution-oriented business model is already in action at the newly launched business.

“Our company, although young, has rapidly evolved this year to meet the needs of our customers,” said Ken Childers, president of Childers Auto and Truck Parts (and owner of the six-location towing business). “We have learned a lot during this growth and each month continues to be our best month. As we expand and build new relationships with customers and suppliers, the best is still ahead!”

The expansion is physical as well with the company moving next month into a new 20,000-square-foot facility on eight acres. Their new warehouse will include five service bays and additional space for its flywheel resurfacing and hydraulic hose fabrication operations. The investment, Childers said, will allow for continued growth and strengthen their ability to meet the full range of customer requirements.

“Childers Auto and Truck Parts is really a jack of all trades, and they make a great addition to the Power Heavy Duty network,” said Jim Pennig, vice president of business development for the VIPAR Heavy Duty Family of Companies. “Not only are they well positioned for growth, but they’re equipped to fulfill the parts and service needs across nearly every segment – everything from long haul to construction, and from school bus to waste management – they serve a very diverse marketplace.”

The opportunities for Childers Auto and Truck Parts are many, and according to Childers, membership in Power Heavy Duty will help them take full advantage and be a complete resource for the Pikeville region.

“Joining Power Heavy Duty provides us access to the resources, support and opportunities that will help us grow our business and stay competitive in our markets,” Childers said. “We’re in the business of providing high-quality parts to our community and we have a proven track record of delivering reliable, cost-effective solutions to our customers. We understand the importance of maintaining a close relationship with the businesses in the community we serve. We are your friends and neighbors.”
